Repair Centre Notes on Trade Associations |
An Independent GarageStarted by John Tullett in Clapham, SW London in 1974 after a stint working as a professional mechanic in Motor Racing, Autocar Repairs had by 1987 moved to West Dulwich Service Station which has been the site of a garage since the 1920's. John has been a member of the Institute of the Motor Industry since 1988, having been an affiliate member since 1985. Working for several large garage groups after completing his training led to his belief that he could provide a more personal and tailored service in repairing and maintaining vehicles, especially when out of manufacturer's warranty, than local competitors and led to the claim of offering a complete maintenance service We have been appointed as an RAC Repair Centre, recommended and monitored by that world famous motoring organisation. We both subscribe and adhere to the new Motor Industry Code of Practice. As well as the experience that John brings to the workshop, Stephen and Jason have been with us now for more than 20 years. Our latest members of staff Emmanuel (Manny) and Darren will hopefully follow this tradition. This continuity and depth of experience leads to a thorough understanding of our company's philosophy and to the building of trust with our customers. We ensure that we are all as conversant with repair procedures as each other, but naturally develop our own individual areas of expertise. Training has always been considered of the utmost importance. Unfortunately Government initiatives in recent years has resulted, in our opinion, in a dearth of effective training programmes. Our membership of Alliance Autocentres will provide facilities for detailed training with support from component manufacturers such as Delphi and Bosch, and the accreditation necessary for ATA which is a standard demanded by increasing numbers of organisations and customers, and which is administered by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI.) |
